As a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, I work to help my patients discover themselves as well as the underlying truths of being human.  In my art work I follow a similar process of exploration, a process of discovery of myself as well as embedded truths about society and humanity like aging, sexuality, commercialization, and political protest through the concretization of spontaneous gesture and imagery.  I currently work to integrate my interests in abstraction, line and the human form. 

My paintings are done in acrylic and oil, without intention and with no antecedent meaning.  Similar to a psychoanalytic session, they proceed from free associations. However, the associations consist of movements and visual imagery rather than thoughts. Spontaneous gestures and responses gradually reveal an underlying structure laden with meaning.  Thus, my paintings represent a series of paths, both comprising and symbolizing the course of self-discovery for me, and hopefully for the viewer as well.
